This course will involve candidates of educational leadership in a practical administrative and/or supervisory experience to be carried out in a field placement, under the supervision of the university supervisor and in collaboration with a cooperating administrative practitioner. Field placements should ensure that candidates have experiences with diverse populations. As with most acts of leadership, the practicum/internship will be informed by research and investigation, but the essence of the practicum/internship is found in the experiences in leadership, which are part of its implementation.

The practicum/internship should engage the candidate in as many ELCC leadership interactions as possible. These may be collaborative, supervisory, collegial, and/or administrative. The cooperating administrator could engage the candidate in school community relations, professional development, program writing, and the myriad of things a school leader will do. A report/portfolio is developed by the candidate. This product becomes part of the legacy the candidate may provide for the cooperating administrator and give tangible evidence of the impact of the practicum/internship.
